Magic Land is a bit wild and a bit eerie at the same time. It was inspired by the strange light that settles on the landscape at dusk and features vibrant brushstrokes, texture, and drawn charcoal marks. The mark-making begins to act as a sort of building or mapping—giving structure to the composition and hinting at buildings or cabins. The rug in the foreground is a nod to a motif that is purely nostalgic to me: my late mom’s eclectic rug collection.
