Into the Back Garden30 in. x 40 in.minerals on canvasInto the Back Garden depicts the magical motifs I’ve been using in my work for over ten years which are inspired by living in wintery landscapes where snow blankets the ground for a good portion of the year. Places like northern Michigan, Vermont, and Norway. Living in a cold climate there is no excuse but to go outside, get in to nature, and play in the snowy landscape. I love to paint scenes from around the house and incorporate striped woolen clothes hanging on a line to dry, scratching into wet paint as evidence of activity leaving tracks in the snow and in the grass, and whimsical objects from around the garden. I think of this painting as a sort of summery scene where magical gnomes may live.
Along the Garden Path12 in. x 12 in.minerals on canvasAlong the Garden Path is a deeply green abstract painting with accents of white and black. The composition suggests dense foliage and shifting shadows, capturing the immersive feeling of walking through a lush, overgrown garden. It evokes a sense of quiet focus and connection to the natural world.
Jardin16 in. x 16 in.minerals on canvasThis lush painting is inspired by my favorite childhood book, The Secret Garden. My Grandpa gave me the book when I was eight, and it was filled with vibrant colors and wild, pop-up paper plants and trees that seemed to leap from the pages. The book could be tied with a ribbon, and it featured a lock on the front, accompanied by a little key that I would wear around my neck. As a child, I loved playing outside in the untamed edges of our yard, engaging in make-believe and communicating with the plants and animals. The vivid imagination of my youth has stayed with me, and it now manifests in my paintings, which are filled with motifs that capture the wildness of nature and the freedom we experience when we connect with the world around us.
North South High16 ¾ in. x 16 ¾ in.minerals on canvasNorth South High is a small abstract painting featuring white, dark green, and olive tones, set within a large dark green wooden frame. The interplay of these deep greens and crisp white creates a balanced yet dynamic composition. The piece suggests direction and movement, inviting viewers to explore contrasts within a grounded, natural palette. The substantial frame adds weight and presence, emphasizing the painting’s quiet strength.
In Spring's Forest22 in. x 26 in.minerals on canvasIn Spring’s Forest is an abstract painting built from deep greens, white, and a bold red. The contrast suggests the tension between winter’s remnants and the first signs of growth. Broad, layered strokes create a sense of depth, like moving through dense trees just as the season begins to turn. It captures the raw, in-between feeling of early spring in the woods.
Lake18 in. x 18 in.minerals on canvasThis blue and green abstract painting reflects the movement and energy of walking through the woods on the way to a summer lake to take a dip. Loose, layered brushstrokes suggest shifting light, leaves, and the anticipation of the cool water ahead. It captures the joy and calm of a familiar path to get to your favorite swimming hole.

Winter TreeThis abstract landscape is inspired by evergreens in a Wintery landscape. Sturgeon MoonTitled Sturgeon Moon, this artwork conveys the spirit of the night sky in late summer, highlighting a luminous full moon that bathes the dark canvas in a warm, glowing light. Through layered textures, I created a moody atmosphere evoking the magic of twilight. The moon, with its radiant presence, contrasts against the shadowy background, while subtle scraping techniques reveal hidden layers, adding depth. This interplay of light and dark invites viewers to explore the serene yet powerful beauty of the night. A bright moon standing in the vast expanse of the night sky.16 in. x 20 in.acrylic on canvas
